Book Review-Anupam Kher's autobiography.

Lessons life taught me unknowingly.

The title of the book suggests what lies inside the cover of the hardback. Its Anupam Kher's autobiography and he is an actor who is just brilliant with his versatility and that is a compelling enough reason to read the book. Also whenever I read an autobiography my aim is to get to know the person behind the persona. I mean there is no way one can ever know in full the person behind the actor. But sometimes simply listening to someone talk about themselves reveals plenty of things. Even if they do their best to cover it all up, a chance phrase or a casual sentence somewhere will give a glimpse of who they actually are.

This book is special because Kher is a very positive and vibrant personality. Willing to adapt and mould himself as life comes to him. I wanted to know about the life journey of such a man. How could it enrich my own outlook towards Life?

I got plenty of such lessons in the book. Beingva small towner and the challenges one faces can be understood by somebody who is actually a small towner. That should include a majority of Indians because we all know how many metros we have.

It was an inspiring and page turner read. What personally impressed me was how Kher got himself back after a facial paralysis hit him. He did not listen to his doctor!!😄 Chose physiotherapy instead of taking steroids and lying on the bed.

After his pro Modi stance and not getting much work in the Hindi film industry. He chose not to listen to Bollywood charasis and is busy making a place for himself on American TV. He just finished his 519th film shot in the US. It has Neena Gupta in it too. So me doubly happy.

The book is full of anecdotes on how he was just about to be cast for a role in Gandhi. How he met Robert De Niro and Woody Allen. Nowhere do you see any self gloating in the book. He is like a child making mistakes, owning success and failure equally.

One quote of his grandfather that will always be my guide." If you want to be equal with anybody in this world, just don't expect anything from the person."
